Looking for DTMF generator chip

Hi all. I recently had a post about sending a coded signal down a wire
to control multiple relays.

Thanks to all that replied, and I decided to send a DTMFsignal.

BUT I can't find a chip in Australia that generates DTMF tones. I can
get a decoder no problem but of course one is no good without the
other.

It's just the CMOS IC I'm after. I plan to make up my own board with
the supporting circuits myself.

I have searched DSE and Jaycar, Ebay in Australia and US without
success. The closest I got was DSE who said they used to carry a chip
but no longer do.

Any ideas for suppliers I can ask ?

Thanks,

Gaz

I was browsing the latest messages on this group and found this "hole"
cable thing entertaining, sort of like "Daze Of Our Lives". Anyway I do
have some CM8880 DTMF transmitter/receiver chips if you want them. The
catch is that they need a micro to interface to them. Personally, I
would just program a wee micro to do this straight forward task
(in-between making a cup of coffee and drinking it that is :) ).

Have you tried using a cheap phone to generate the tones??? Seems like a
logical solution after all.

G'day Pete,

I'll have a look through the junk see what I can find.

I remeber writing a HAM TV repeater program durring the
80s on, believe it or not, a vic 20!) it used a single IC, a NTSC
burst crystal and some glue logic etc. worked very well

Allowed remote control of the repeater functions etc.

Mitch

Try RS or farnell

Thanks for the suggestion, Wayne.

I have found the Farnell web site and they have a couple of promising
chips. I'm looking at the data sheets tonight.

But who/what is RS? Radio Shack?

Thanks,
Gaz Man

Give Bob a call from Microzed
www.microzed.com.au he has the CM800 ? I think in stock these are great
DTMF transceivers, peice of piss to hook up and get working, with lots of
sample diagrams and code on the web for them,.
