Something like that? I see quite a few similar products but they\'re
all a
gallon or larger sizes and seem to be from restaurant supply houses.

Looks similar, though rather a large quantity and not available from
Amazon UK. (Not that I would buy that sort of thing online.)

I doesn\'t say that it can be used for baking cakes. Flora Cuisine said
that is could be used for general frying as well as cake making, but I
never saw the point as there are lots of vegetable oils available for
that. (Margarine is an emulsion of edible oil and water; I suppose
that\'s needed for cake making or people would just use oil.)

Generally, margarine is not recommended for cake making. Baking relies
on a balance between water and fat. The water in margarine can produce
undesirable results.

Bullshit. Its what I normally use and I have never had a bad result.

But it tastes like the cheap oil it is made from.

It mainly tastes like artificial butter flavoring. As best as I can
remember. It\'s been a while since I\'ve eaten margarine.

Life\'s too short to eat crappy baked goods.

There are different types and brands with differing flavours. Use
no-name cheap ones and I would agree with you.

I don\'t. I do use the store brand cheap spread and it tastes fine.

Corse our store brand cheap spread isnt necessarily the same as yours.

I do a modest amount of cooking and baking. If I use store branded, or
simple margarine for cooking I get complaints and I\'m not so keen on the
result myself.

I now tend to use Stork exclusively. I\'m aware that tastes and supplies
might vary from country to country.

But it isnt clear if the same cheap oil is used in your store branded
spread as ours. I have never found any listing of the oil actually used.

I have just discovered that the store brand spread I normally use
behaves quite differently on toast to the more expensive spread.
The more expensive spread disappears completely on toast straight
out of the toaster. The store brand spread I normally use doesnt,
its still visible on the toast when it is being eaten. Presumably
because a different oil is used which has a higher melting point
with the store brand spread.

I now tend to use Stork exclusively. I\'m aware that tastes and supplies
might vary from country to country.
