Hi All, i have a LOEWE CTC CT1170 in for rewpair which has had a lightning
strike.
I have got it going but if you turn it off with the remote it will not turn
back on.Using the main power switch has no effect and will still not turn
on.
If it is left for a few minutes it will turn on via the main power switch
but not the remote.
Has anyone seen this before.
Cheers
Joe

I know nothing at all about TV repair - but that's never stopped
me before :)

A wild guess: the microprocessor (or other chip) reset circuit?
If they are using a CR network to do the reset it would usually
have a diode across the R - maybe that diode has blown or
perhaps I should just be quiet :)

Thanks Mike for the reply. It turned out to be a faulty chopper transformer.I
replaced the rectifier diode for the 5v standby circuit which was faulty as
well.Tested ok though.
When the set was turned off it would loose its 5v stby. After a minute you
could turn the set on again as the 5v would then reappear.
Talk about pull you hair out on this one.
All other rails from the transformer were ok when set was turned off except
the 5v stby.
I have ordered the transformer and will keep you posted.
