linux Support for Cadence

I would like to get some information on Development of Liunx for
Cadence.

I have been told that Cadence main development is for Liunx (and then
they worry about the other OS). Is this true? or is someone trying to
"pull the wool over my eyes".

No, at least not for most of the tools. The main development platforms
are Sun (and HP too, I think), but primarily Sun. Not enough customers
have moved to Linux as their main production environment yet to warrant
a change (mainly because Linux itself is not nearly so stable as Solaris
or HPUX or AIX).

Note, this is my opinion, not a company endorsed view (in fact all
my postings are my own views rather than sanctioned by Cadence).

What product line are you asking about?

The Cadence Products I am really concerned about are:
- Allegro_designer
- concepthdl
- PSpice

I don't believe these are currently supported on Linux, let alone being
primarily developed on Linux... I think it's coming, but not released yet.

Again, I don't know for sure, but it seems unlikely that the main development
platform would be one that the tools aren't yet released on...

Regards,

Andrew.

Last I heard, a linux version will be available for Allegro 16.x, and I would
assume (but could be wrong) that the other board level design tools (i.e.
Specctra, SpecctraQuest, Concept, PSpice, etc.) would be ported at the same time.

YMMV :)

I believe that a Linux version will be available for Concept and
Allegro in their next release (15.1) Pspice is unlikely to be
supported since there is no Unix version of PSpice as yet.
