Li Ion charging ICs

Anyone know where to find Li Ion charging ICs? I have found two on
their manufacturers sites, but I can't find them anywhere online. I
like the MAX1555 and LTC4055 because they take both USB and Wall wart
power, but I can't find them at any of the mail order sites I've tried
and the companies themselves either don't carry them or won't sell
small quantities of them. Any recommendations on a site to buy them?

You can get samples and buy small quantities dirctly from from Maxim,
but you'll need to register to do it. Goto:

I'm sure Linear's got the same kind of deal, but I haven't checked.

Linear doesn't sell that chip online (says its not available from
their store). Maxim sells that chip in multiples of 2500 only. For
samples, I am doing this as a hobby project, so I don't have a company
to put in the registration. I don't think I should put my school as my
company as the project has no relation to the school. Do you think
they'll actually give samples to a EE student?
