LG Air Conditioner

I was given an LG air conditioner recently, it's missing the front face and
casing, but to my surprise I only had to give the fan motor a turn to get it
running again. So, I am looking for someone that knows where in Brisbane I
can find spare parts of LG air conditioners.

sounds like the fan has a burnt out coil, generally if the fan is stopped at
a certain possition, it will need another 'kick start' i've seen all types
of motors like this

is the fan an easy to replace size?

a custom front would work :)

a bit of the topic but, a few years ago a mate gave me a near new NEC window
aircon unit, it worked very well for 3 years, last year I brought a new
house and removed it from the old house, there was a large build up gunk due
to a block drain hole, I hosed the gunk out, but I have stuffed the bearing
in doing so, it sounds very noisie when I turn it on, seised bearing sound,
are the bearings replacable on this unit? be a shame to throw it away due to
my stupidity

any advise is welcomed, cheers Ian

easy stuff to try, get some automotive / metal fab grease (the stuff they
use to stop metal joints from over heating / drying out) thik as shit,
usually brownish or red.

*smack abit of that in to the bearing casing, should be fine.
only thing is, it sounds as if the bearings are rusting, or some of the crap
you were washing out got stuk in the bearings, the grease may help, i think
if you were to over grease it, the excess should help squeeze the crap out.

* suggestion only

No need to replace it, electric motors can be refurbished, including
rewinding all coils for less than a new replacement. its usually 50-75% of
the new motors price.

try prime electronics. They deal in LG VCR parts. They may be able to get LG
air con parts.

Mayb eit needs a new motor starter capacitor, if you have a look,
you'll be able to get one of the same voltage rating and capacitance

Once I gave the fan a spin it has worked every time now, all I need to get
is the outside case and the front panel with the air filter in it.

As for the fan, I have a feeling it was a lack of use, the unit was very
dirty, as the original owner lived in a house with a dirt road only about
10-15 meters away, and the colour of the dust and mud buildup was the same
colour as the road.

I would like to find the casing and front for it so that I can use it,
without the casing it's useless.

I have a 10 year old kelvinator unit - and it was first used for this
season about 2 months ago. There was awful bearing noise from the
internal fan - but I suffered with it as it was better than being
baked alive. After about 2 weeks of this - the noise has vanished
completely and its working fine since.
