Lexmark Z22 printer

It stopped in the middle of printing a page. Got dialogue box indicating
that I had changed printheads. LEDs flash in a pattern, a trouble code, I
presume. Seems to go thru all the normal motions on startup, but LEDs
always flash after startup routine. Took it completely apart and found
nothing broken or burnt. Switches, gears, belts, motors all seem to be OK.
This thing isn't worth much, but I'd hate to toss it out if it could be a
simple fix. Looking for any help/ideas, info on reading trouble codes.

TIA,
Paul

Have you changed the ink cartridges?

Are the ink cartridges new or are they refills? - Reinhart

Make sure the print cart is seated properly and making good
contact.

Mine's always doing this. How I temporarily repair it so far is to remove
all print cartridges from the printer then using a soft rag dampened with
alcohol, wipe the printed circuit patterns on both the cartridges and the
printer removing as much dried ink as possible. My guess is that there's
some type of insulation built up by the ink between the printer cct. foil
and the cartridge foil. Thus it can't read that there's a cartridge
installed or indicates an incorrect level of ink. "Problem communicating
with the printer" sound familiar?
