Lexmark Z11 belt(?) problem

Hi:

It just started fouling up when I printed a pdf file that was
designed to print as landscape, so things like headings end up as
horizontally short print segments like:

|c
|c
|c
|c
|c

rather than:

Chapter 3
---------

So what's happening is the print head is skipping, you can hear the
drive hub skip and see feel that the belt's not moving at all. The
belt has a couple spots where the copper is showing through on the
edge which I guess would be an indication of wear. But there are no
flat spots on the belt.

At one point the motor just kept trying to drive the head into the
left stop. I managed to move the thing and power cycle it a couple
times and it went back to normal and it will print ok until I print
a page with a single vertical block even if it's an inch wide.

Maybe the belt has streched and these fast direction reversals are
causing the skipping.

OTOH, when I moved the printhead back and forth by hand, it didn't
move at first, then it did, so maybe it's binding.

Anyone ever mess with these things that can shed more light on the
prob or confirm my suspicions?

Who carries replacement belts?

Thanks in Advance.

Mike
