The Leesburg Police Department will upgrade the mobile computers in
its patrol vehicles thanks to $14,135 from a federal Justice
Assistance Grant.
The computers help patrol officers run queries from the field,
complete reports and communicate with the Emergency Communications
Center. The technology has enhanced efficiency and information
management for the agency.
For comments or questions about the grant, call the Leesburg police at
703-771-4549.
Gunman Demands Cash At Round Hill Store
Loudoun County authorities are investigating an armed robbery of the
Round Hill Mini-Mart on Wednesday night.
A man entered the Main Street business about 9 p.m. and approached the
counter as if to make a purchase. Instead, he brandished a firearm and
demanded cash. He was last seen fleeing the store and entering the
passenger side of what might have been a blue Ford Ranger driven by
another man.
The suspect was described as a white male in his early 20s, six feet
tall and wearing a white shirt, black pants, a baseball hat and
sunglasses.
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at
703-777-0475. Those who want to be anonymous can call Loudoun Crime
Solvers at 703-777-1919. If the information provided leads to an
arrest and indictment, the caller could be eligible for a cash reward
of up to $1,000.
County Seeks Adults To Be Foster Parents
The Loudoun County Foster Care and Adoption Program is seeking adults
who are interested in becoming foster parents.
"The children who come into foster care range in age from infants to
teenagers, and they come from diverse backgrounds. But what they all
share is the need to have a safe and stable environment," said
Paulette S. Bird, the program's manager. "Foster parents really have
the opportunity to make a difference not only in a child's daily life,
but also their future."
The Department of Family Services holds informational meetings about
the foster care and adoption program on the second Tuesday of each
month.
Anyone interested in learning more about foster care is invited to
attend.
