use 2 batteries in series and put a 22 ohm resistor in series with the LED.
that'll work fine

Cheers

It depends on the led you are using. A white led would need three batteries in series and a 10-22 ohm resistor or an inverter to
operate off 1.5v. Look up the specs for the one you wish to use.

The resistor depends on the current it draws, but the basic circuit is:

LED Resistor | + 1.5v
______ |\|_______/\/\/\____| |_____
| |/| | | |
| | |
| |
------------------------------------

The battery won't last long though.

Try this link, nice and simple circuit.
http://users.cableaz.com/~cappels/dproj/ledpage/leddrv.htm
only need a ferite bead, a resistor, a transistor and some
wire.

Or if you want to get higher amperage out of the converter
for a Luxeon ferinstance, try use MAX1674/5/6 from MAXIM, it only
need a capacitor and an inductor to work (plus a couple of
other capacitors for filtering if required).

Hope this help. Post your result. Need more help? contact me.
