Learning verilog

Hi all

I quickly browsed through the other threads of the newsgroup but i
couldn't find anything on this. Where can I learn verilog? I failed to
find good material on the internet and even good books, how do I learn
this thing? Also, is there a irc channel or something that people who
program with it hang out?

I suggest to purchase the IEEE 1364-2001 standard in .pdf format:

http://shop.ieee.org/ieeestore/Product.aspx?product_no=WE94921

It is not hard to read and includes a few examples.

Hi,
Surprising, there are atleast half-a-dozen books on Verilog, to start
with try:

Verilog by Bhasker,
Verilog HDL - Palnitkar

Also there are several FAQs, tutorials on web - use google!

As a newbie with Verilog myself, I found that most books do not cover
Verilog 2001 properly. The examples are still in the 1995 Verilog
style.

Hi,
IIRC, Palnitkar book (recent edition) does cover V2K, but I won't
comment on "how much" as I've not done a detailed analysis on that.
Personally I found once I know V95, V2K was not that tough - papers
from Stuart's page helped me (www.sutherland-hdl.com), again I don't
claim to have used all of V2K stuff - didn't have to yet. But I would
recommend people to start looking at SystemVerilog - that's lot more
than V2K and I personally see V2K as a minor update than major one like
SV - my personal opinion though.
