lcd monitor query

Got a Hewlett Packard 4455 Pavilion with an Intel Celeron processor.
Yes----it's an old wheezer.

The question is whether or not I can plug 'n play my new 17" LCD monitor
with it or not.

I don't see why not. The only thing I would be concerned about is the Video
Graph. card. It seems kinda slow for that good of the monitor, if it is the
original Video Card. I would also make sure that the drivers are compatible
with the OS. It shows that the original OS was 98. Normally PnP works with
98, but I would defiantly check with the installation program of the new
monitor first. Other then that, I don't see any reason it should not
work....

Thanks. Pretty much sounds like a monitor is a monitor is a monitor.....

Well, that's true and it's not true. Obviously, a really old monitor (pre
color), won't fit the video jacks of today. But under normal conditions,
yeah. However, if you plan on getting the Max out of the LCD Monitor, then
I would suggest you get ditch the original Video card, and get a newer Card,
with more memory. 8 megs on a video card, is just too low. I've got 32 on
mine, and I still have slow video, on certain games and applications. But
as with anything, it was top of the line when I got it, and went bottom of
the line as soon as I walked out of the store with it..:) LOL
