my 1998 Dell Inspirion hinges are cracking, not yet
parted, but will soon. what can i do to effect a
repair now, before they do fail?

i have some ideas, but wonder if anyone in these
three groups has already addressed this issue?
any ideas, experience, or speculation is welcome.

Thanks! --Loren

Duct Tape

What about the possibility of "plastic welding" the case? I have seen
a tool at Harbor Freight that supposedly welds plastic. Anyone have
any experience with these tools? Would it work on this type of
material, and would you have to disassemble it? Just a suggestion
(and possibly a new startup home business).

The hinges he speaks of are metal, I'm sure.

Are you suggesting he "weld" the display in a fixed position relative to the
body of the laptop?
