Laptop Adapter

I'm not sure this is the right place to ask this question, but I can't
find an answer elsewhere, so here it goes:
My Toshiba Laptop AC adapter is broken. The adapter says the output is
15 V dc at 5 A. I found another toshiba adapter, but this one is 14 v
5 A. Can I use this as a replacement or the 1 V difference is a
serious problem?
Thanks in advance.

It may or may not work but I doubt that a lower voltage would damage the
unit.

Probably not but try anyway. Some Toshibas require a higher voltage
to start and a lower one to run. I tested my particular unit with a
bench supply. It would not turn on until the voltage was 15.9 but ran
on 14 volts.

Maybe they want to sell your *their* special car adapter. There has
been at least one project published that put a cap in series to boost
the voltage to start a Toshiba for car use.

Ok, thank you very much for your quick responses. Now I have another
question, still about replacing the same 15 V dc at 5 A adapter. Can I
use a 15 V dc 4 A adapter?
I know this may sound pretty stupid, like I'm trying everything, but
I'm not in the states, not even close, and I'm asking about what I can
find.
Thanks again.
