KTX monitor - reprise

Well, I got to the bottom of the problem with this 17" KTX monitor
mentioned recently. For those with a short attention span, I was having
trouble with the red gun cutting out intermittently.

I selected the two most likely components to be causing the problem, and
swapped them to different gun channels on the neckboard. When the blue
gun played up, I knew it had to be the driver transistor.

So, does anyone know where I can get a 2SC3953 or equivalent?

Si-N/120V/0.2A/8W/400MHz

Pinout is E-B-C
Package TO-126

WES components have them listed at $1.70 wholesale
Phone 02-9797 9866 with a plastic card and they will get it to you
next day for $5 charge, or post it to you for the same charge.

Yeah, I'm now a registered customer, and the price became $1.70
suddenly.

I've heard of WES before but never had need to use their services
because I don't specialise in TV/Video repair, which is where they seem
to focus.

** They pretty much cover the consumer electronic repair business, hi-fi
audio and PC monitors as well.

If you need a Asian made transistor or IC they are the first place
to look - cos they are so cheap there.

However - they are not yet an on-line supplier.

Use the phone and credit card for non account customers.

Yeah, now that I have their cattledog in front of me I can see they are
better described as consumer electronics specialists.
