Korg Triton service advice requested

Anyone got access to the service manual for a Korg Triton keyboard?

Half the pat\ches stopped working. Ran the diagnostics, everything
passes OK. After considerable head-scratching, I discover that
everything is working EXCEPT Insert Effects 2,3,4,5 are dead. IFX 1
works fine. Send to another IFX, or chain through from IFX 1,
complete signal loss.

What on earth could cause this?

Any suggestions, anywhere else I should ask?

I would try reinitializing the unit and reloading the factory preload data
and see if that clears it up. You can download the files at

Initializing the Triton
This procedure sets all patches to an initial setting. It does not reload
the factory sounds. Factory sounds can be reloaded from the disks that were
included at the time of purchase.

To initialize the memory in the Korg Triton, hold down the [ENTER] and [0]
buttons while powering the unit up. The display will read "Now writing into
internal memory". This message will appear twice. When the normal Triton
screen comes up, turn the unit off and then back on again. The pair of "Now
writing into internal memory" messages may appear one more time.

Reloading the factory sounds
Load the "PCG" file from disk "TNFD-00P", which is supplied with the Triton.
If the disk is not available, the contents can be downloaded from
www.korg.com. Follow the instructions in the downloaded archive to create
the factory disks.

I got this from a guy at Korg:
It is possible a bad chip - all the basic oscillators, IFX1 and the
Master FX etc. come from one TG chip, and the other 4 Inserts come
from another, so the symptoms match.

Sounds unfortunately likely :-(
