Spoken sound is scrambled; very flat sound with a kind of reverb.
No copies, all original DVD's playing fine in another DVD player.
Problem is not with all DVD's, also a bonus track can have perfect
sound while the spoken word in the film is unintelligible.
Foley and background sounds are always ok.
At 1,5 speed the spoken sound is also normal.
Problem occurs in all available languages.
Tried all DVD machine menu options only to proof that the sound can
get worse.
The chip used is National NDV8602 "Mediamatics". I've visually checked
the PCB, can't find anything unusual. Can't find a data sheet at
National's web site.
I think a codec fails to work.
Looked over DVD newsgroups and Web site DVD forums, this problem
doesn't seem to occur for a standalone DVD player.
Anyone here have any suggestions, are there DVD test CD's or other
tools to check the working of codecs ?
Thanks
