Hi, all

Unit would ecord in either SVHS or VHS, but will only try to playback in
SVHS. I can use any tape and it will always think that recording is done in
SVHS. As a result, VHS tapes are played with no color.

There is a module (IC301) that does the detection. I can see all signals
come to it (although chroma is less in amplitude than it is specified in
service manual) and module always thinks that incoming signal is a SVHS one.

I did not have much to do with SVHS. How is it recorded? Does it put chroma
in a different frequency than VHS chroma?

Thanks,
Rudolf

VHS and SVHS record the chroma the same way, so it will have to use the
luma signal to detect the difference.
