I have a JVC AV27795 tv which the audio is out on. There is no sound on the
built in speakers or on the speaker outputs on the back of the tv. Is this
a common problem that can be easily repaired?

Check if there's audio in earphone jack. I once had a Sony TV with no audio,
and turned out the earphone jack contact, that passes sound to output
amplifier when nothing is plugged, were oxidated and didn't make contact.
