JVC TV QUESTION

I HAVE A JVC 27` COLOR TV, MODEL AV27920 WITH HORIZONTAL LINE ACROSS
THE CENTER, ALREADY RESOLDERED VERTICAL IC, BUT STILL HAS THE LINE,
ANYONE KNOW THIS ONE?

First: flick the cap lock off.

Secondly: This means you still have blown LA7832 vertical IC. Reason:
too small heatsink slowly cooking that 100uF 35V capacitor dry and
blow the vertical IC eventually.

Remove vertical IC with heatsink attached (easier this way), scrape
off old heatsink grease with paper trowel pushed with your fingernails
don't want to scratch heatsink's surfaces, apply thin coating of
heatsink grease to new LA7832 IC before bolting it in just snug. Also
MUST replace the 100uF 35V capacitor inside the vertical heatsink.

Check: 1.2 ohm or 1.8 ohm (R421) 1/2W flameproof resistor & RGP10J
diode (D421). Sometimes both are bad when vertical IC shorts out.
Also check the 75V zener diode across the vertical output to ground
isn't shorted, it's tiny colour banded glass bead right next to the
heatsink. Sometimes I find that one shorted also.

Finally resolder all flameproof resistors, they develop solder
fractures.

When fixed, enjoy your decent JVC!

You have a failure in the vertical circuit that you need to troubleshoot and
repair. Pretty standard stuff for anyone with minimal tv repair knowledge
or experience.
