JVC AV28R25EKS

Anyone had problems with the sound on these sets ie no sound or no
sound and loud crackles,i am aware of an EEPROM prob perhaps IC701 8
pin ic,ordered one from JVC distributer but a SMD arrived is it an
upgrade?no other info with it,will it have to be re set if so how do
you enter the service mode,i really dont want to order smanual cant
trace set in UView books can anyone help

Hi Tony,

Are you sure the unit you are working on is a JVC AV-28R25EKS?

I've checked and according to the parts list IC701 is a SDA555XFL which is a
52 pin IC responsible for Teletext and Micro functions.

Do you mean IC705 (MM1478DF-X Which is actually a 8 pin surface mount IC).
If so, this is not a EEPROM but is actually a Voltage regulator + Reset IC.

If you can clarify why you think the EEPROM is causing the sound to crackle
I may be able to assist you further.
