This is a 26" JVC TV (AV2650S) manufactured in 1990 that worked well
until recently, and I hate to dispose of it if it can be repaired. I
have a good working knowledge of electronics and would like to attempt
repair myself. The vertical began intermittant failure a month ago, but
the problem would usually go away after warming up for about 10 minutes.
I had read that this was most likely due to an old electrolytic
capacitor that needs replacing. Now the vertical is completely dead and
only a centered horizontal line remains even after warming up. I have
removed the main PCB and have found no obviously cold solder joints and
all components seem secure and intact. Although I have located the IC
and nearby caps for the vertical, I am not sure which components apply
only to the vertical circuit.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Rick
