Hi, all

I bought 4 AA Ni-MH batteries for my digital camera from Jaycar. They charge
OK and work OK, except that they leak the charge! Chargeit and use right
away -- no problems. Charge and leave even outside the camera -- abour 3
days and charge is gone!
I have another set that I bought with the camera -- no problems at all.

Battery in question is Powertech 2000mAh (red ones).

Anyone else had any bad experience with those?

Thanks,
Rudolf

No problems here with the exact same batteries. Charge loss is not
noticable over the span of weeks.
Same with the older blue Jaycar 1650mA ones

Perhaps you got some dud ones?
Return'em

so much that they'll stop sending you Nigerian scam e-mails. Just filter

Mine are ok, what charger are you using them with?

Have had the same problems with "NEXcell" brand from Jacar , best
described as TOTAL CRAP , out of a set of 10 , only 2 looked to be
half good ( they will hold a charge for longer than a day ) after one
months use
Bought "Varta" cells from WES and they are still going strong after 2
years ,

I found that I was a bit disappointed with those during the first couple of
cycles, however, now that they've had a few fully discharged and recharged
cycles, they perform really well.

If you've only just purchased, I suggest you run them right down and fully
recharge a couple of times before you get too upset as I'm very happy with
mine now.

Regards,

Adam

You are using an "intelligent" charger with these batteries, aren't you
(usually distinguishable by how much you paid for it, $70 vs. $25 and the
words dV/dt and temperature sensing on the box)? Otherwise it's easy to
undercharge these cells (you don't get nearly 2000mAh out of them), or fry
them by overheating them (recognizable by smell of burning flesh and loud
expletives when pulling cells out of charger).

I'm using a bunch of these batteries and their 800mAh AAA brethren in a
smart charger from Jaycar and am *very* happy with them. They're right up
there with alkaline batteries for staying power, but you'd have to be a
bunny to use alkalines in a digital camera.

Cheers,
Alf

Got four of them for a cordless mouse (2 in the mouse, 2 on standby). The
two in the mouse after a full charge last about 1-2 months before they are
flat.

As someone suggested, get them replaced under warranty.

hi all,

i can also vouch for the issue of cycling the batts a few times
before giving up on them.....

a while ago, bought a nice batt charger and pretty good
Ni-MH batts for the digital camera .
initially they would go flat fairly quickly but after a few charging
cycles, they seemed to "wake up" and have kept charge for
months!!!!

all they needed was a good swift kick in the.....

:)

regards

Harry

I use the exact same batteries in my camera, and they're excellent. My
camera has sat in a drawer since September, and when I brought it out for
Christmas pics the batteries still had plenty of power. Kinda surprising as
my Fuji 1300 has a rep for being quite a pig for batteries.
