Hi all,

I need advice on on how to use the function of "ivVerify" running
divaDRC using ic5033?

I had no problem with ic4.46, but ic5.033 prompt error on
.../dfII/bin/ivVerify.exe not found.
I had check the folder, and it do not contain any ivVerify.exe

cheers.

I would say your installation is not complete.

Same problem here with IC5.0.33 both under sparc and linux.

The script '$cds_dir/tools/dfII/bin/ivVerify' calls
'$cds_dir/tools/dfII/bin/ivVerify.exe' which is not there!

Can someone confirm the absence/presence of 'ivVerify.exe' within
a 'complete' installatrion?

Thanks

That's rather odd, since ivVerify and ivVerify.exe are installed by the same
package. It suggests that either it ran out of disk space during the
installation, or it has been deleted...

Thanks but cannot confirm both ;-(
The installations were performed a while ago (Oct 2004),
I will make a fresh one and check carefully the logs.

My Installation of ic5033usr2, did not have ivVerify.exe.
but installation of ic5033usr3 have it!! might be an install error.
Very strange, need to check with the CAD admin ....

Thanks.

a-ha,
we have 'only' ic5033usr2, and there ($cds_root/tools/dfII/bin)
is definitely no ivVerify.exe!!!

Bingo. I checked my IC5033 USR installation, and it was missing there too.

So I checked further, and found:

PCR: 717421
Title: IC5033USR2 tarkit missing ivVerify.exe

This was fixed in an ISR shortly after USR2, and was a consequence in a change
in the way that ivVerify was previously a binary, and then change to be a
wrapper script which called ivVerify.exe. Inadvertently, the ivVerify.exe got
omitted from the kit.

So installing USR3 would solve it.

Andrew.

Thanks, but it's not a option: EUROPRACTICE :-( license.
Temporary we can live with (in $cds_root/tools/dfII/bin):

% ln -s 32bit/ivVerivy ivVerify.exe

If you have 5.0 licence you will be able to run 5.0.33 USR3. It's the same
version (basically an update)- you won't be able to switch to a new
version however (5.1+).

But where to get the 4? installation/update CDs (USR3 and/or better) from?

download it from cadence website (you will guess the url...)

cheers,

stéphane

Thanks, but as I said: it's a EUROPRACTICE licence (annual software
update process) without access to SourceLink ;-(
Or am I missing something?

I spoke to the Europractice guys today (a couple of them were on a course I
was giving) to make them aware of this.

Normally CDs for Europractice people are delivered through Europractice. In
this case I don't think it's worth getting an update.

Another alternative to putting the link there is to copy
<instdir>/tools/dfII/bin/layout.exe to <instdir>/tools/dfII/bin/ivVerify.exe
Then rename ivVerify in the 32bit and 64bit directories to be called
ivVerify.exe.

The "layout.exe" is a special wrapper which handles switching between
32bit/64bit executables - and it is a generic executable which figures out
whether to run the same named executable from the 32bit or 64bit directories
based on command line arguments and environment variables.

In later versions it's exactly the same executable.

So this approach is a bit more complicated than the one that you proposed,
but it will allow you to run both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of ivVerify,
which your solution would not.

Regards,

Andrew.

Thank you for your information&explanation Andrew.

A little bit off topic, and surely not worth in this case, but as
already stated our EUROPRACTICE license allows us to use USR3
(and/or further) updates, EUROPRACTICE itself delivers installation
media (updates/upgrades) 'only' annual, so should be possible
for non-profit customer (like us) to download actual updates
directly from cadence with some kind of authentication?

Didn't realize that until now, thanks, but the usual 'solaris manner'
in such a case is that they are hard linked , so

% ln layout.exe ivVerify.exe # in <instdir>/tools/dfII/bin and
% mv ivVerify ivVerify.exe # in <instdir>/tools/dfII/bin/{32,64}bit

works also well.

BTW
ERC, LVS, cdba2icc, ddCopy, draculaInteractive, icc2cdba,
icde.exe, icds.exe, icms.exe, layout.exe, layoutPlus.exe,
libManager.exe, libManagerOA.exe, libSelect.exe, lvsbx, pipo.exe,
qtrek.exe, scale.exe, si
are all identical and could be hard linked togehter ...

So this approach is a bit more complicated than the one that you proposed,
but it will allow you to run both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of ivVerify,
which your solution would not.
I have corrected it already :)
Thanks again

I believe that the downloads have to be done via Europractice as
part of our agreement with them. This may change in future - but
for now you need to contact them. They can deliver updates if really needed, I
think.

I'm aware of this, my question (suggestion) was
referring to the (near?) future :)

Hi,

I checked my solaris 5033 installation and it is there.

It is at $CDS_INST_DIR/tools/dfII/ivVerify.exe

Tim

forgot the /bin after /dfII

$CDS_INST_DIR/tools/dfII/bin/ivVerify.exe
