I've found a use for energy saver bulbs!

Here in the UK its middle of winter and we're gripped by blizzards.

A couple of 20W energy saver bulbs make great shoe warmers, just switch on
the bulbs as soon as you get up and your shoes will be nice and warm by the
time you go out.

Hmm... Some incandescents will do the same trick. I used the electronics of
a 20 energysaver to drive a 22W circline fluorescent. Works great for some
years now. Saves several relative expensive circlines. Guess they previously
worn out too fast due to the poor quality of the conventional ballast and/or
on/off switch.

Years ago when CFLs were expensive I used to repair them, many died of
electrolytic failure and a few died of tube failure. EOL tubes from iron
ballast fittings gave their life again on the CFL PCBs.
