It's more than the fuse!

OK folks, what's the consensus, fix or buy new? It's a 20 year old Onkyo
TX65, the fuse blows for no good reason and continues to flare out when
powered on. I checked out the guts of the beast and see nothing obvious, no
smoked caps, no crispy wires ( yes wires), no nothing. I haven't been into
any audio component repairs for quite some time and most folks say to pitch
it due to the cost of new stuff being so low and having better whistles and
gongs. So......whatda think??

Try checking for any blown output stages and their related components.

bad when you test them. - Reinhart

I'm for not throwing stuffinto the land fill, if at all possible. If it has
all the bells and gongs you need, fix it. It's also quite rewarding.
