I see my local Australia Post has the Panasonic TCD 400 on special for $89.

Flyer says it has 9 station hot key dialling.

Anybody know if this a good phone?

The price is certainly right.

thanks

Happy with mine.

Hear the occasional "click" from time to time. But overall it's good.

Yep, all the pana DECTs are good phones.

All that really matters is if its got the features you want.

Got mine a couple of months ago from Dick Smith for $88, and I'm delighted
with it. Good range, excellent audio quality (with a slight amount of
digital hiss, nothing distracting) and well built. It uses NiMH AAA-sized
batteries so replacing them is cheap and easy when needed. Ring tones are
many and mostly silly. It's even got a clock built in for no particular
reason :)

Bear in mind that this model does not support Caller ID or multiple
handsets. If neither of those are a problem (Caller Id's a ripoff I can do
without, certainly) then this is the budget cordless for you. Telstra's
similar-priced DECT offering might look fairly good, but has some big
problems (bad sound, average range, and a charging circuit that, unlike the
Panasonics, doesn't do voltage detection and consequently leaves the
batteries on charge until the end of time. Fine if you like a toasty warm
handset :)

Yep, the Panasonics are quite good.

Just a word of warning though. If you're using ADSL for broadband internet,
some models of Panasonic phone are known to interfere with performance quite
dramatically. If you're unfortunate enough to experience this, just be ready
to play trial and error for a combination of line filters that work.
