Is there any tool to convert netlist to schematic?

Hello, everyone

I can only get spice netlist of standard cell from foundry, but I need to
use the form of schematic. Is there any tool to do the conversion
automatically? Thanks for your help!

Have a good day!

Best Regards,

Harryzhu

This has, I believe, been covered before on this newsgroup (so please
run a basic Google search and let us know what you found out). All I'll
repeat is that this cdlin-to-schematic functionality is a basic part of
DFII Virtuoso Composer.

Are you sure? I remember composer can accept EDIF file and convert to
schematic.

Just look in the File->Import menu, you'll see it can import many things, amongst which
CDL, EDIF, Verilog.
As John suggested, CDL might be suitable for you as CDL is SPICE-like.

I tried to import CDL and find it not work well as you said. Firstly I
export CDL from an nand2's schematic view and then import CDL into one new
library, then I get the completed information. When I open the created
cellview, I find there's only overlaped nmos and pmos and there's not any
wire or port, even I cannot edit it. I checked openbook and don't think I
make any errors.
I visit comp.cad.cadence Archive also and find those subject named as 'CDL
Import' but don't find any valuable info. who may give me some advice?
Thanks for your help!

BTW, I wanna convert spice netlist to schematic and keep the hierarchical
architecture. Is it realistic?

Best Regards,

Harryzhu

what version are you using?
since version i don't know what (5.0 i guess) you have the "schematic generation options"
at the very bottom of the import form, allowing you to generate a "readable" schematic
with wires and everthing.

I'm using IC 4.45 based on solaris 2.6. Thanks for your help!

This is a rather old, unsupported version, on an old, unsupported OS. You
should seriously consider using a newer version such as IC5033 or IC5141.

Things have moved on since then. That would be the easiest way of
getting the functionality you desire. The CDLIN in the version you're using
could only generate a connectivity database - no graphical interconnect.

Andrew.
