Inverter repair

My backup inverter has turned up its toes :-(

It's a Selectronic Silver Series modified square wave, 24VDC - 240VAC,
600 watt continuous, 1500 watt surge.

Connecting the +ve and -ve to the battery bank immediately lights up the
red "Overvolt" LED (yes, I checked the polarity).

The battery bank is OK, the main inverter has no problems, and I check
the max and min voltage history of the battery bank at least once an
week - it's all within specs.

The nearest "official" service agent is not within driving distance, so
before I try to post it off, is there anyone in S.E. Qld who can repair
these things?

Any half way decent electronics repair shop should be
able to give it a go. Ask you local TV repair guy.
