Interms of performance how different Intel Mobile processors compared to

As in the Centrino chips? Depends on the application ..
Centrino's are HELL of a lot better on batteries .. (up to 6hours, vs 2.5
for ht p4) .. they run at a lower overall clock, but do more per cycle, so
in some situations, they are as good, or better than a HT p4 twice theyr
speed.
Also, when running on batteries, a 3ghz p4 will SpeedStep down to 800mhz or
so, maybe 1ghz at the most, where most centrino's will give you the option
of disabling SpeedStep, and still getting a couple of hours battery life ..
do that on a P4, and you'll be pushing 15 mins
They also have a lot of cache (2mb, against 1mb on some p4s) which again can
be more beinificial in some applications ..
