Interchangeability of Panasonic Plasma TV A Boards

Guest
I have a Panasonic TH-50PX80U with a defective A board (mainboard). The service manual lists it as part # TNPH0716ABS, but the board itself has a "2A" instead of ABS suffix. I've looked around for a replacement, but can only find boards with the A, AG, or AGS suffix (the -ABS are all out of stock), listed as fitting the similar model TH-42PX80U.
So my question is, are any of these boards interchangeable? Will a mainboard from the 42" version work on the 50", and does the suffix or lack of it on the part number make a difference?
Thanks for any advice.

If you look it up on shopjimmy it usually gives some interchange information. In most cases when dealing with different suffixes if you can SEE the difference it may work, if you cannot see the differences it usually won't. What I mean is that if all the workling plugs are the same but you see something different like a plug for another side input, external speakers or something like that but everything else looks the same, the chances are good. If the board looks identical it is more likely to be a change that you can't deal with.

Doesn't sound right , but...

A bit of further research shows that each of these boards has a different firmware version, so I guess they are not interchangeable.
Anyone have a good -ABS board they want to sell?

The firmware could be anything, how the TV information is displayed on the
screen.

What you need to ask yourself is, "are you ready to scrap this tv set?"

ONce the answer is yes, then it's really about how much you're willing to
spend. Since the tv set is scrap, any attempt at getting it to work is
icing on the cake. You can't hurt it since you've already decided it willb
e scrap. That gives you an edge, a willingness to take chances that you
won't if you still see hope for the set. The only other issue then is how
much you're willing to spend on a gamble.

Of course, in the internet age, it all becomes about "folk knowledge".
"Anyone" can change a board, it takes more skill and experience to at
least figure out what's wrong with the tv set. When someone can do that,
they have a better edge on replacing the board, or may be able to fix the
board itself.

But if you can only deal with plug-in solutions, then there's a very
narrow window for doing much. Get information from others, and hope it
works.
