Increasing USB ports inside a PC

I'd like to add some USB 2.0 ports to those already inside a PC. Every
device I've looked at provides more ports to the 'outside' world.

Appreciate it if someone could give me a URL for a device that is inside
the PC and provides ports inside the PC. I've considered sticking an
external laptop expander or thumb hub inside the case (which ends up
giving me the wrong types of connectors) but can go that route if I must.

Thanks

do you have any USB headers on you motherboard? Newer mobo's
have USB connecters and also headers for expansion (to the front).
I added a front panel with 2 USB connecters and HDD mount made by
Antec (?)

If you have a spare pci slot available you need only
pick up a pci-usb card. They're quite inexpensive.

Take care.

If you have a fee slot, the only thing you can do is to add a USB port card.

If you have no room for another USB board, you can change the one you have
to a faster one, if possible.

As for your existing USB ports, if you want more without adding anything,
you can use a USB hub. With a hub, the load is shared. This is the only
drawback with a USB hub.

Do not use a mouse, or a device of high priority on a USB hub.

All internal are in use; that's why I want more.

All I've seen add external ports. Please give me a URL to one that adds
internals

I remember one highly-touted advantage of USB before it's inception being
the ability to daisy-chain multiple devices, but I've not seen any USB
devices which support same (USB in/out on the same device). Was that just
given up as unworkable or impractical? I do know that one of the predicted
drawbacks would be the inability of the original USB standard to provide
enough current to power more than one or two at a time.

Hi...

Got me confused about 'internal' and 'external'...
course I'm old so it's not hard to confuse me :)

If you add a pci card, the sockets will simply
appear on the back of your machine; much like your
monitor and printer, etc.

Is that not, by your definition, internal?

What I'm seeking are ports inside the box, not outside. These ports
would, preferably, use header connections, not the USB A or B connectors.

I'm adding a keyboard that has a daisy chain connector on it. It has a
PS2 plug for conventional kb functions plus a USB plug for enhanced KB
capabilities. There's a USB socket on the KB for daisy chaining.
