Anyone have experience importing EDIF into Composer/Virtuoso?

What I'm trying to accomplish is converting OrCAD Capture schematics
into Composer/Virtuoso schematics.

Thanks!

I love to cook with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food.

I got the same quote from DataXpress. Seems excessive. Which is why
I'm asking about the EDIF (both Capture and Composer/Virtuoso support
EDIF.

The only thing I've found is here:
http://www.dataxpress.com/

I haven't tried them and it's pretty expensive. They do have a
service for a one-time translation that may be less expensive.

Here's their reply to me about a Cohesion to Cadence translator:

******************************

Thank you for your interest in the product and services of Engineering
DataXpress.

We have a translator product, the DXL122-10, which translates
schematics and symbols from Cohesion Designer (ECS) to Cadence
Virtuoso Composer. The price for a single user (node locked) license
is $14,400 (ECS on UNIX) and $12,600 (ECS on PC). It includes 90 days
of maintenance support.

**************************

Their conversion service was quoted as follows:
Our conversion service pricing is as follows:

1. Setup Fee $3,000

2. Re-setup Fee $1,500, charged if, after a complete setup and trial
translation, we find that a significant amount of information is
missing, or the design changes after the initial setup and a new setup
is required.

3. $100.00 per schematic page

4. $25.00 per each unique symbol.

5. $250.00 per hour for extra work caused by design errors. If your
designs have followed all the rules of the source system, then there
shouldn't be any work here. This is required to a avoid the "garbage
in, garbage out" problem.

Please note that we always ask for a PO that authorizes up to 125
percent of our estimate (rounded up to the nearest dollar). This is
to cover extra work that we may need to do. We don't charge for that
without your permission to do the extra work.

******************

These guys also have edif translators, but don't seem to have the
right flavor of Cadence (Concept only).

I've never gotten an edif translation to work. So far it's been
easier to re-enter the schematic.

I'm hoping this will change one day, but so far marketing thinks that
not supplying translators keeps their customers locked into their
product.

Regards,
Larry
