Go look for your own damn job leads. This newsgroup is to help
people learn the basics of electronics. You have to be a member of the
IEEE to access their data. If you have an EE degree and enough money,
you can join the IEEE.

Why bother with the IEEE anyway? There are tons of free job
search/posting sites. They work.

I wouldn't.

The one that pissed me off was government site government jobs. You
would select a city & category, only to find 500+ sales pitches to join
the military, but no jobs. I e-mailed them and asked why it was set up
that way. I got a cryptic reply that it couldn't be changed, because
enlisting was a 'job'.

Several other were full of dead listings that were gathered by a
bot. I registered with a couple to get e-mails for the work I was
looking for, but everything they sent me had nothing to do with
electronics. This was in 2001 - 2003.

I have had very good luck with Monster (Career Builders, not so
much). Job searching was rather painless but I still hope I won't
have to go through it again. Moving wasn't painless.

IEEE. I knew about it as a kid. Several members of our radio club
had dads who were power engineers at the local steel mill. One of the
guys I served with in Alaska was a EE who worked at the power plant.
Every month or so the magazine or some other paperwork would arrive. He
would rip any letters to shreds, and would toss the magazines into the
dumpster unread, while complaining what a useless group it was.

Monster and about half the other were only interested in IT jobs.
That is, till the bubble burst. The others were either state or county
sites, along with all the bot mills. I checked a year or so ago, and
most of those sites are gone including the ones I had registered with.

Yeah, I've stayed away from the IEEE too, though my father was a
member (of AIEE before) more or less by necessity. They're too
academic and management heavy to be of real use to the working EE.

Of course, my experience with them is much more recent but I can
understand why IT was it then. Being a head hunter in IT must have
been like being a Realtor in Miami in '05. I didn't even bother to
look for jobs online, except to see what areas of the country were
hot (and not). The big advantage of Monster was in getting my
resume out to head hunters. Some of them were very good. Some
weren't worth my time, of course.

At least you found something. The only offers I got were for someone
with 25 years experience with Win 2K Pro, starting in Sept. 2001.
