ID part?

Can someone help me ID these? I know of resistors, capacitors, etc..but I am
unsure what these are called. Here are some pictures I posted here:

I believe I have heard these referred to as "IF Cans". But I don't know their
true name.

Also, how can I tell the difference between them? They have different colour
tops on them (red, blue, yellow, orange, brown, white, black). And some have
numbers such as:

blue top: ITF 114
pink top: ITF 113
brown top: ITF 112
white top: ITA 111
yellow top: ITA 101
red top: no writing
orange top: ITF 111
black top: ITA 112

The picture I posted is of one with a white top, and the letters ITA 111 on the
side. On the last picture, I am showing two of these on the board. They are
both brown, with the letters ITF 112 on the sides of them.

What is the official name for these parts, and are they identified by the
colour tops, or by the code on the side, or both?

transformers or RF transformers.

with external (or sometimes internal) capacitance they form a tuned circuit.
generally used for interstage coupling and bandpass filtering.

the color coding is for factory install so the assemblers put the right can
in the proper place. (or load the correct can into the automation assembly
machine) there is no standard in this case.

to tell them apart you will have to measure them with test equipment.

sometimes, despite the fact that there are 5 or 6 legs for mounting only 2
are connected inside to a coil.
 
yes there IF cans and in my experience rarely fail and a very good tip -
don't put a screw driver in there and turn one to set what happens unless
your following a procedure laid out in a service manul, the othere gurus may
have some other tips on this concept
