IC substitutes

First off thanks for the assistance on previous post "Ident of old IC's
I have managed to get all of the damaged equipment operational again with
the exception of one piece. I have identified the failed IC's and have tried
several online IC supply places and tho some say they have access to them,
the shortest lead time is four weeks!!! These are production machines with
people out of work. I need a short delivery time on qty 2 Max251CPD and qty
2 Max250CPD. Or even better a pin compatable substitute, or a spec sheet on
these two chips.

Both of them are:

MAX251CPD IC DVR/RCVR DUAL RS232 5V 14-DIP

MAX250CPD IC DVR/RCVR DUAL RS232 5V 14-DIP

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Try Googling for MAX251. The first hit is a datasheet. Maxim offer
free samples on their website.

www.findchips.com shows both of them available from Digikey and Newark
Farnell can get anything in the Newark catalog (because they own
them!) and Digikey has reasonably friendly small export order policies
(ie they only take the arm and the leg but leave the firstborn).
The Maxim sample thing works well in the US but can take a while
(occasionally never!) outside the US so I wouldn't bet my lunch on it.
Good luck!

Datasheet from the following
http://www.maxim-ic.com/quick_view2.cfm?qv_pk=1310

Newark can source the following
Part number 77C8739 MAX250CPD @ $7.55 - have stock of 100.
Part number 77C8745 MAX251CPD @ $7.55 - have stock of 4

Phone: 1-800-4-NEWARK
http://canada.newark.com/

I'd check the opto-couplers as well, just in case one or more have been damaged.

You could replace them with ESD versions, which would give them greater protection
against ESD transients. The part number details are in the datasheet. Newark do sell
some versions of the ESD devices.

I meant the MAX250/251 chips.
