My mums 5400Z reciever stopped working, I replaced a few caps in the power
supply that was shown in an artical in a satellite mag, this didn't fix it.
I tried another power supply from a working unit and it still didn't get it
going.
Has anyone here had any experiance with these units? . The readout flashes
for a moment when you turn it on but that it's limit, a few times it might
start up and you can hear a relay click but the software locks up. 99 times
out of 100 it just won't start. Since most of this unit has surface mount
chips on it and surface mount caps and resisiters I am finding it hard to
play with.
My mum only uses it for aurora. Where she lives north of Bunderburg there is
no normal TV signal. So I'd like to try and get it going. It's out of
warranty now so theres not much point in sending back to NSW for a service
call.
It stopped recieving a signal around the time of the last big storms about
2-3 months back, I thought it was just the dish being moved out of
allignment, so I drove to Bundy from Briz, and after turning it on for being
off for a month or so it was dead.
