HSPICE Integration into ADE (IC5141)

Dear All,

I have to use HSPICE simulator instead of SPECTRE simulator in ADE (Analog Design Environment) of Virtuoso CDB (IC5141 from Cadence). However, by default, HSPICE does not come as options for choosing the Simulator.

So, my question is - how to integrate HSPICE simulator (we have Synopsys HSPICE installed and licensed) into ADE???

Please help me (if possible, guide me step-by-step to configure the environment) as soon as possible in this regard.

Thanks & Regards,
Samiran.

It should show up as hspiceD if using the Cadence-supplied integration.
Maybe you didn't install product 32760? These days all products get
installed all the time, but in the past if you didn't choose to install
a product, it didn't get installed.

In addition, Synopsys provide an integration of HSPICE (I believe).

Hi Andrew,

Thank you for you reply. Actually I have been waiting for your reply in this issue but somehow didn't get time to follow it up.

Now, the situation is -

1. License 32760 is not present in our system. When I tried hspiceD, 32760 license checkout error pops up in CIW window. So, my question is - is it possible to acquire that particular license separately. I mean, will it cost in excess to what is paid to Cadence as part of the University Bundle we obtained.

2. The other option, HSPICE from Synopsys - I integrated HSPICE into ADE following the instructions given in a document from Synopsys itself. However, there is some problem in loading the hspice model paths to ADE in this case.

Could you please explain - is there any difference between hspiceD and HSPICE ??? I am totally confused.

I can't explain the difference, as I don't have access to the Synopsys
HSPICE interface. As for access to the license, you'd have to ask your
university programme support person. I thought Europractice would
provide 32760 - but I don't know who is running your University Programme.

Kind Regards,

Andrew.
