HS8831 USB-Hub IC: Searching for data sheet...

Dear experts,

Unfortunately, I\'m not able to find the datasheet for the mentioned
IC (be it being too stupid for using the right search terms, be it
the data sheet can\'t actually be found in the Web).

Therefore I do hope that somebody here is smarter or more successful
than me ...

Many thanks in advance.

Best regards

Reinhard

Interesting problem. I had no luck either, in Octopart or a general web
search.

The ic has a very funny pinout. 3 grounds on one side, 1 on the other.
Fairly modern design with smd\'s and a led.

You might describe the function of the device and the supply voltages.

Almost looks like a USB driver on the right. Ground, what looks like power,
and two data lines.

What are the functions of each of the three cables on the left, and one on
the right?

Looks like a very sloppy soldering job. May be a small-time shop. Is there
ny way to contact the manufacturer or the distributor?

There\'s lots of experts in the group. Someone may be able to find it.

Good Luck

It\'s not a lack of intelligence on your part - don\'t let the
antisocial/psychopathic/sociopaths wear you down with their \"you have
no one to blame but yourself\" bullshift.

Anyhow, see if you can get any mileage out of the datasheet shown
towards the bottom of this webpage:

It is a special 2-port (lower 2 cables on the PCB\'s left side) USB
hub for use with a small tablet, which is connected with the cable on
the right side of the PCB. Additionally, the USB devices connected to
the 2 ports can be supplied (5 V) either from the tablet or - to save
the tablet\'s battery energy - from an extra power supply connected
via the cable soldered to the GND/V5 pads on the upper left side of
the PCB .

Almost looks like a USB driver on the right. Ground, what looks like power,

See above.

Not only regarding the soldering. Instead of the obligatory
(Schottky) diode in the +5v line from the tablet some intelligent
person has placed an 0 ohms resistor (lower right corner of the PCB).

... Is there
ny way to contact the manufacturer or the distributor?

Unfortunately no.

Indeed, one super detective has found at least some basic data :)!
