Hi,
I am simulating a clock tree (in HSpice 2007 version) without any
clock gating and trying to capture its average power consumption. The
clock's time period is 1 ns (thus its a 1 GHz clock).
If I measure the power in HSpice as
..measure tran avgpower1 AVG power from=10ns to=20ns
I get a result of 53.3 kW (yes, kilowatts).
However, if I use the command
..measure tran avgpower2 AVG I(VVDD) from=10ns to=20ns
I get the value as 7.44uW
And on using
..measure tran avgpower3 INTEGRAL I(VVDD) from=10ns to=20ns
I again get power (=integral/10ns) as 7.44uW
VVDD is the voltage source which connects GND and VDD through a 1V
supply. Why am I getting so different/weird result with the first
command?
On a side issue, I checked that the variable "power" (for the first
command) is not defined anywhere in my netlist, so does HSpice
understand it as a keyword?
Thanks a lot in advance,
Ashu
