HP Selling New PCs with Windows 7 Again

Have you been thinking about buying a new computer, but you can’t stand the idea of dealing with Windows 8 and its lack
of a true Start menu? Apparently, you’re not alone and the PC companies are hearing your cries, starting with the folks
at HP.

**Funny you mention that. I've been looking to replace/supplement my
ancient HP lappy (about 5kg worth) with something more
modern/compact/low battery drain/cheap for SWMBO to use with her recipes
and other stuff. I was more than a little bamboozled by Win 8 machines,
but I can see the advantages of the touch screen idea. SWMBO will not
tolerate a 'soft' keboard and the cost of those extra keyboards for the
Microsoft Surface is ridiculous, not to mention the cost of the machine
which you may want to install your own software on!

It's WIN8 a all in one PC but as convenient as a Laptop
Not touch screen so I don't know why the instal it?

If it's Win8 it needs touch scren and a touchscreen pen (text
recognition is now state of art)
This one a bit underpowered but a full win8 machine (touch screen)

You will have to contact Medion to see if they have any left

It should really come as no big surprise; given the penetration of Windows 8
into the corporate sector (the main income source for the likes of HP and
Dell) is far lower than even Vista, they were really beginning to hurt with
their main source of income drying up.

Altogether, this is a _very_ good thing.

Since some follow ups appear to also assume Windows 7 PCs are rare I
thought I should post the UPDATE/CORRECTION that is appended to your
source.

"We’ve been informed that HP, among other companies, has been
continuing to sell Windows 7 PCs this whole time and it’s only the “up
to $150 off” promotion that is new. Sorry for any confusion."

It's going round. Just bought a new Lenovo with Win7 pro, plus a licence for
Win8 (which went straight in the bin, figuratively).
