This unit came in with no cartridges so power up seemed fine until
they dropped off new cartridges and the printer then powered up beyond
its normal self test. At that time it was going through its "startup"
procedure checking for paper and reseting the scanner light. Then it
stopped and displayed "please power off, then on", with all the units
led's flashing at a high rate. I noticed a large amount of ink down in
the lower right hand corner from maybe a leaky cartridge and thought
that the heads were not making contact with the "home" tab. I cleaned
it and nothing changed. Contacted HP.com they say its a ground problem
to where its grounding through the parallel cable or something else.
This unit was/is being used as stand alone so no cables were connected
but to be sure I put a ground buster in first to make sure it was
isolated. This did nothing. I then contacted HP and smooshed some girl
to think I had bought this less then 6 months ago and had her walk me
through the "soft reset" commands to clear any data out. This proved
to be an even bigger waste of time but at least my customer is now
qualified to get 15 percent off to trade this in and buy another HP
P.O.S. So any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks. Lenny Stein, Barlen Electronics.
