How to make a PIC Programmer ? ...

Hey Guys

Not sure if this the right Forum but hey ...

I'm lookin at makin my own pic programmer from scratch. The finances are a
bit low to purchase the commercial ones.

I want to program the 16x range of pic micro controllers.

Any comments ?

A couple.

1) Don't worry about being able to program all parts. Get started with one
part and go from there. I'd suggest the 16F88 in the 18 pin form factor and
the 16F877A/16F876A for 40 and 28 pins respectively.

My Trivial High Voltage PIC Programmer can program each of these parts. And
the cost certainly wi not break the bank. You can find it here:

Al the parts shoud be available at the local Radio Shack or if even a
moderately well stocked electronic junkbox.

I advise testing with a short parallel cable.

One thing to consider is that you'll have to debug a programmer you
build. Buying one that is already built and debugged is a bit simpler.
If you look at the microchip site, you will find a programmer that can
program 12F and 16F chips for something like $40.
