Sadly for John Larkin\'s reputation, burning hydrocarbons does have unfortunate side effects, even if he is too dim to appreciate this.

Making and storing liquid hydrogen would do the same job (without the side effects), in a way even the dimmest gasoline fan can understand, but you only get back about a quarter of the energy you used up making the hydrogen. Batteries get closer to 85% but you have to be able to manage quantitative thinking to see the advantage, and John Larkin doesn\'t seem to do much thinking of any kind.
