Quite right. All this keeping sewage away from
drinking water, and not crossing roads without
looking is nothing to worry about.

It is just the will of God.

Your theology needs an upgrade.

Guts, too.

Tut tut tut. You can\'t presume that is my attitude
from that statement.

As you know, I\'ve done many apparently dangerous things
in my past.

The question is whether the risks are understood and
controlled, and whether there is a corresponding benefit.

Theology doesn\'t have internal organs. It\'s an academic study of people\'s delusions. The people who fund it don\'\'t think that the ideas being studied are delusions, so it isn\'t studied a branch of abnormal psychology, though a theologian with guts and sense might come to this conclusion and admit it, before moving on to a more useful field of study. The only professor of theology amongst my acquaintances is more interested in liturgy, which is one of the dramatic arts.

So, I\'m presuming that\'s a metaphor? What would
it be a metaphor FOR?

In a discussion of theology, and improvement, I\'d understand
if you\'d mentioned a dollop of whipped cream... THAT\'s an improvement.

Where do the laws in Western society come from and where is their authority derived from?

Second guessing where you are coming from with that question....

.... from a load of ancient human written texts claiming they were inspired
by some supernatural being - with some modern revisions.

The social contract, rather than theology. Religious apologists do like to claim otherwise, but it is an irrational claim.

Spinoza was willing to concede that dimbos might need to be threatened with a non-existent god to get them to take laws seriously, but Spinoza was a very clever man and was very well aware that quite a few people were less clever than he was..

Hey SL0W MAN, your \"social contract\" does not seem to extend to the unborn, including those that are mere seconds away from being born.

You seem to be importing theology into the discussion. No society lets anybody sign contracts that they obviously can\'t read or understand. We make an exception for people like you because you get upset when we don\'t take you seriously, but even then people like you have to made it to the age of majority before they can commit themselves to doing something really stupid.
