Hitachi vcr fault

hi guys
was given a dead hitachi vcr and after getting everything up and running
there is no picture on video playback. It has sound and all other inputs and
outputs work ok. Any ideas ???
Have thoroughly cleaned the heads

Rich do you get snow or just a blank screen.
It could be heads.

Its a VT S895E. I'd like to put in the time on it cause of all its features,
scart svhs rca etc. Wont use it that much so it doesn't warrant buying a new
one with similar features. Plus i just like tinkering
