I've got a 60" 60UX58B Hitachi Ultravsion that I bought new about 6 years
ago. It's been a great set, and the only minor glitch that I have is that
the stereo indicator doesn't display after the first channel.....I really
don't care if ST pops up or not.
Here's the big problem: I turned the tv on last night and the picture was
terrible! It had a major shadow throughout....after regaining my composure,
I had the presence of mind to try MAGIC FOCUS to take advantage of the auto
convergence. Sure enough, it fixed the problem. Later on in the evening, I
went back and turned the set on again, had to do it again. Tonight, had to
MAGIC FOCUS again when the set was initially turned on. The first time last
night, the picture was terrible, but since then, it is primarily noticeable
on the menu when text is displayed(with clear or shaded background, not
gray).
I had recently unhooked my DVD player's 3 component video cables, but had
watched the tv several times since then. The only thing different was that
I had reconnected the 3 component video cables.....I assumed that this was
simply a coincidence. I wonder if I'll have to do the MAGIC FOCUS every
time that I turn it on?
Is the convergence a problem with Hitachi RPTV's? At least the MAGIC FOCUS
still works, even if I do have to do it every time. Any help? I love the
TV, and the picture is still excellent.
