Hitachi TV No Picture, No Menu

Hello,

I hope someone can point me in the right direction. This evening I
went to turn my TV on and there was no picture however there still is
sound. I attempted to press the menu button and the on screen menu
does not even come up, as well as all the other video inputs.

Not sure if it is important to note, but when I turn on the TV it
looks like it's going to turn on (I see the bright horizontal line,
then just a black screen)

The model is a 36UX01S (36" silver case).

If you have any ideas or suggestions please let me know.

Cheers!

Bright horiz line normally indicates a problem in the vertical circuits,
then the unit shuts off to protect itself. Check the vertical deflection and
associated power supplies.

Thanks Art.

Looks like its a little over my head. But at least I will have some
knowledge on what to say to the technician.

Would you care to "guess" as to how much I am looking at on having this
repaired?

Matt: Any where from $100 - $150 seems nominal unless excessive trouble
shooting is required, such as finding a cracked circuit board, etc. Call
around, some good shops offer free estimates if you deliver it set to them.
Realizing it is a 36" and heavy as a dog!! Having a tech come to your
residence of sourse will be more expensive due to the road call, etc. Have
them give it a go, these are nice sets.
