This is a national competition targeted to those interested in bio, HPC, FPGAs, and tubing down the New River in the summer. Work will be performed on Convey HC-1 and HC-1ex FPGA-based hybrid-core clusters. The deadline for applications is quickly approaching:

Virginia Bioinformatics Institute at Virginia Tech is hosting a "High Performance Computing in the Life/Medical Sciences" 2-week summer institute (http://nsfsi.vbi.vt.edu) sponsored by the National Science Foundation. This summer 2-week intensive course (July 17-26 2012) is directed towards eligible undergraduates, graduate students and postdocs interested in further developing their expertise in biology relevant high performance and data intensive computing field. During the course, participants will attend lectures and discussions by leading field members including academic and industrial affiliates and work on a group research project with 3 other course participants.
This course is supported by a NSF Funded Award No. OCI-1124123. Travel, lodging (in a Virginia Tech dorm room) and sustenance (primarily from the Virginia Tech dining halls) is provided. Application deadline is March 30th; please see http://nsfsi.vbi.vt.edu/application.php .
