Say for example we have a data trace or even a data bus that may be either an input or an output and say for example that this particular trace or bus connects to the output pin(s) of my CPLD. My CPLD is being programmed to act as a ROM; a ROM that will self-modify the internal data registers that I am setting up, but that is not the point of my question.
I need to know that if I switch the data output pins of my CPLD to a High Impedance state, that the bus may still be used by the other devices. The other devices are the microcontroller that I am talking with and a Static RAM IC.
Is there a better way to "shut off" these pins when I don't want activity from the CPLD on these traces?
